Adnan Sami Khan is a citizen of the world – the music composer/singer had a great career in Pakistan before he moved to India and became a resident of that country. Some people may not agree with his views on Social Media but there is no denying the fact that he is one of the most talented musicians in the region and still has a lot to offer. Today, we celebrate his 46th Birthday with 15 of his best songs in the last 25 years – from Raag Time till Bajrangi Bhaijan!

Teri Yaad Aati Hai – Raag Time

Barely into his 20s, Adnan Sami became a trendsetter with his memorable songs; Raag Time on NTM was the first program where he sang as well as acted. This song came out in the early 90s and helped establish Adnan as someone to follow!

Dekho Janeman – Private

Adnan Sami was on top of his game in this Arabic themed song that was shot on real locations; the music was different from that era’s pop numbers and became a chartbuster at the time of its release.

Aye Khuda – Private/Sargam

It was during the Elections of 1993 that this Muzaffar Warsi Hamd was rendered by Adnan Sami Khan and it went onto become one of the best renditions of the year. The song was later used in Syed Noor’s Sargam where he used it to open the film.

Zara Dholki Bajao Goriyo – Sargam

Sargam was responsible for bringing people back into the cinema in the mid-90s and Adnan Sami’s compositions were one of the reasons for the revival. He used Asha Bhonsle as the voice of Zeba Bakhtiar that was later replaced by Hadiqa Kiani due to the lack of NOC from Pakistan Government.

Barse Badal – Sargam

The chemistry between Adnan Sami Khan and Zeba Bakhtiar in this song set the screen on fire; the song is still popular after 2 decades because of its freshness at the time of its release.

Pyar Bina – Sargam

The film may look dated but the songs were way ahead of its times – in fact Adnan Sami and Zeba Bakhtiar married soon after the film’s release. May be love was in the air due to the romantic numbers … hmmm.

Pyar Hai – Sargam

This song was on top of the music charts all over Pakistan when it was released. It still doesn’t look old thanks to Adnan Sami’s futuristic vision which was too big for Pakistani films to handle.

Kabhi To Nazar Milao – Badaltey Mausam

This song became popular after Adnan Sami Khan went to India; however it was released in late 1997 in Pakistan and nobody bothered to buy the album except a few including this scribe. It was one of the best music albums to be released in the country that year, yet the sales weren’t as high as expected.

Mujhko Bhi To Lift Kara De – Badaltey Mausam

The same album had this classic number that was penned by Adnan’s usual collaborator Riaz ur Rehman Saghar and went onto become a hit when Govinda starred in the music video three years later.

Tu Sirf Mera Mehboob – Ajnabee

Abbas – Mustan used Adnan as voice of Akshay Kumar in Ajnabee and Adnan went onto secure nominations as Best Playback Singer for his rendition of this song that was his first in Bollywood!

Tera Chehra – Tera Chehra

Adnan Sami collaborated with all leading ladies of Bollywood in this album; his song featuring Rani Mukherjee went onto become a huge hit and is still loved by his fans.

Kabhi Nahi – Tera Chehra

Singing a song with Amitabh Bachchan is every music composer’s dream and Adnan’s dream was fulfilled when he sang this fun number with Big B.

Shayad Yehi To Pyar Hai – Lucky: No Time For Love

Adnan Sami Khan made his debut as a music composer in Bollywood with this Salman Khan film and had the chance to sing with the great Lata Mangeshkar through this number. This song is perhaps the best work of his career as he excels as both the composer and the singer!

Noor e Khuda – My Name Is Khan

In this Karan Johar flick, Adnan was used as a playback singer with Shankar Mahadevan and Shreya Ghoshal. It comes at an appropriate time in the background and gives you goosebumps whenever you listen to it.

Bhar Do Jholi – Bajrangi Bhaijan

Adnan Sami Khan sang this number in Kabir Khan’s film about India and Pakistan – who else could have rendered a song that proposed friendship between the two nations than a person who was citizen of both, or used to be. The song faced controversy as one of the Sabris objected to it, but it went to do well and helped the film become more successful.
