The Kapoors are the first family of Bollywood; their history is as old as the Indian film industry and they have given the country many heartthrobs including Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor. In the current generation, Ranbir Kapoor is representing his family and is doing a superb job, if you go through his career. Like his father, uncle, and grandfathers, Ranbir is lucky to have worked with the best music composers of his era and that’s the reason why he ends up with the most number of hits in the last 10 years. Let’s go down the memory lane and celebrate Ranbir’s 35th birthday through his songs.
Jab Se Tere Naina
Film: Saawariya (2007)
Singer: Shaan
Music: Monty Sharma
The song may remind you of Mere Khwabon Main Jo Aaye song from DDLJ yet it was different in many ways – it was launching a new Kapoor in B town who had huge shoes to fill. Before this film, Ranbir had assisted his father Rishi Kapoor (Aa Ab Laut Chalein) and his future director Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Black) in direction but his true calling was acting, and here he was making his mark with literally no ‘clothes’ attached.
Saawariya
Film: Saawariya (2007)
Singer: Shail Hada
Music: Monty Sharma
The youngster had the backing of a brilliant soundtrack but the film couldn’t do well at the box office; the soundtrack seemed to have saved the leading man and leading lady of the film. In this song, Ranbir manages to copy his father and grandfather by setting the stage on fire with Rani Mukherji in the audience.
Bachna Ae Haseeno
Film: Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008)
Singers: Kishore Kumar, Sumit Kumar, Vishal Dadlani
Music: Vishal – Shekar
In this coming of age film, Ranbir came in his own and impressed many if not all. The additional vocals in the song were sung by Kishore Kumar’s son for the son of his father’s frequent collaborator Rishi Kapoor, making it memorable and fascinating at the same time.
Tu Jaane Na
Film: Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani (2009)
Singer: Atif Aslam
Music: Pritam
This Raj Kumar Santosh film had a beautiful soundtrack and Atif Aslam made his presence felt in this Sufi-inspired number. Ranbir and Katrina look smoking hot in their attires while Atif’s vocal make the environment romantic.
Tera Hone Laga Hun
Film: Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani (2009)
Singers: Atif Aslam, Alisha Chinai, Joi Barua
Music: Pritam
Another Atif – Ranbir collaboration where Alisha sings for Katrina; it was in this romantic number where the leading man and the woman of the film fell in love and their story dragged for years before they broke up.
Naadaan Parinde
Film: Rockstar (2011)
Singers: Mohit Chauhan, A R Rahman
Music: A R Rahman
Imtiaz Ali’s finest film brought the best out of Ranbir who was instrumental in the film’s success as a Rockstar. The soundtrack had rebellious songs that made Ranbir the icon of the real world as well, this song is one of them.
Saada Haq
Film: Rockstar (2011)
Singers: Mohit Chauhan
Music: A R Rahman
This song talks about the injustices in the society and Ranbir was excellent in it as a transformed person who doesn’t hear evil or see evil but does something to keep that evil away.
Badtameez Dil
Film: Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (2013)
Singers: Benny Dayal, Shefali Alvares

Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani had the best songs of the year with this one showing how much crazy Ranbir has become since his debut. He manages to in over his friend and rekindle a spark that was missing for sometime.
Balam Pichkari
Film: Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (2013)

Ghagra
Film: Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (2013)
Singers: Vishal Dadlani, Rekha Bhardwaj

We all love Madhuri who danced into our hearts again with this number where Ranbir plays the anti-love guy who doesn’t want to romance anyone, anytime.
Tu Hai Kay Nahi
Film: Roy (2015)
Singer: Ankit Tiwari
Music: Ankit Tiwari
Roy may have been a box office dud but tis this song pulled the audience towards cinema. Jacqueline Fernandez looks good here as well in a song that was meant to be famous.
Matargashti
Film: Tamasha (2015)
Singers: Mohit Chauhan
Music: A R Rahman
Mohit Chauhan – Ranbir Kapoor – A R Rahman join hands after Rockstar and the result was tremendous. This song went on to become a chartbuster and still makes you tap your feet.

A sad number featuring the legendary Alka Yagnik is what kept the audience engrossed in the venture; one of the best songs in recent years.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Ranbir plays a singer in the movie where his life turns up and down after being kicked out for his immaturity; Arijit’s vocals are the reason why we should listen to this soothing song!
Bulleya

Another song from Karan Johar’s last comes out where Ranbir’s character is talking about Bulleya and lost love. Must listen if you want to fall in love!
